Frequently Asked Questions - Single Tours Africa

Have a look below at some of the questions we get asked quite often. If you can’t find what you’re looking for, please contact us. One of one of our friendly consultants will get back to you with his/her personal recommendations for the best single tours in Africa, straight away!

Do I have to pay a single supplement?

No, you don’t! Most of our single tours through Africa do not work with single supplements as we welcome any solo traveller to Africa, rather than penalize him or her! If there is single supplement on the trip, it’s only for those who WANT to be in a single room, otherwise we team you up with a member of the same sex. Speak to our consultants about our single tours in Africa.

What are the ages of my fellow travellers?

Most our tours are aimed at the young at heart and adventurous solo traveller in Africa. Ages range from 18 to about 50 years of age, depending on the tour.

Our senior safaris are aimed specifically at the 50 plus traveller but if you are younger and travelling with an elder friend or family member, you’re of course more than welcome too!

Do most people travel on their own?

Half the group does normally consist of solo travellers through Africa, the other half comes with a partner or a group of friends. This gives a good mix and your highly experienced crew will ensure that everyone enjoys their single tour to the max!

Read testimonials from previous solo travellers to Africa.

Is travel insurance really necessary?

Yes it is! Why? Because you’re going to far-off places and in the unfortunate event that you’d have to be airlifted out, the costs could be substantial. We offer travel insurance specially adapted to our single tours Africa, click here for an affordable quote.

One recommendation: the free travel insurance that you receive with your credit card is NOT adequate for our adventurous single tours through Africa!

What if I want to spend time on my own?

Not a problem! Our tours are flexible and all have time built in for optional activities where it’s your choice whether you join the group or explore by yourself or with new found friends from the tour.

I don’t like camping, now what?

Come on one of our accommodated safaris. We are not talking 5-star lodges but comfortable & clean accommodation in bungalows and chalets. Contact us and we will recommend one of our accommodated safaris.

What is in- and excluded in the trip price?

Click on the tour of your choice and you will see an exact description of what is in- and what is excluded in the trip price. International flights, airport/arrival/departure/border taxes, personal items such as drinks, tips and curios are not included in any of our overland tours.

Do I need special vaccinations for your single tours Africa?

Different areas require different vaccinations. Contact us and we’ll be able to give you the latest up-to-date information.

What about visas?

Some nationalities do require visas for some of the countries our single tours travel through. Some are available at the border at a cost, others are free, others you will need to get before you leave home. Please contact us, your consultant will be able to give you the most up-to-date information. But note that African immigration rules do change from time to time without notice.

How do I book?

Find the tour you like, send in a quick enquiry. We check availability on our overland safaris and hold an option for you. You fill in a booking form and send us the money and before you know it, you’re on your way to Africa for one of the best holidays ever!

I heard that if you book in Africa, it’s cheaper.

Yes it is cheaper to book directly with a safari company based in Africa. The good news is that we are based in Cape Town, South Africa. This enables us to stay on top of trends in the travel industry and to get you the best deals out there when it comes to single tours in Africa. Try it, you won’t get better value for money with non-Africa companies!

How many people will I be travelling with?

Our group sizes range between 5-24 solo travellers in Africa.

Our senior safaris have a maximum group size of 12.

Will I enjoy it?

YES, YES, YES!!!!! (and if you don’t believe us straight away, have a look at what our past clients thought of their single safari in Africa).
